Why Choose Holly’s Pilates Village?

No need to travel far, we teach today’s approach to Pilates – foundational purity and modern integration - with master teacher trainers who live and work right here in Louisville, Kentucky.

A New Way to Move

Joseph Pilates was a true genius. He created a new way to move based around common sense principles - providing a veritable owner’s manual for the human body. The seeds of what we know as Pilates (what he referred to as Contrology) began in the 1920’s and continued to refine and innovate beyond his death in 1967. Originally an elite program of exercise popular among dancers and athletes, the Pilates Method is now accessible to nearly any body in any condition. Modifications for different conditions, injuries, postural types and level of fitness meet the client where they are while maintaining the guiding Principles set forth by Joseph Pilates all those years ago. He always said he was 50 years ahead of his time. As we look at what his work has made possible after his death, all we can say is… he was right.

At Holly’s Pilates Village, we are dedicated to providing this innovative work, integrating modern approaches without sacrificing the foundational purity of Pilates. This is why we have embraced the Pilates Sports Center program for Pilates Teacher Training. Developed by a former dancer and a chiropractor, this program includes both the classical versions of exercises - demonstrating the movement while including the historical perspective - and modern applications, along with Progressive versions of this master work. A PSC Pilates Teacher emerges from our program with the tools and knowledge to work with a wide range of clients in the best-equipped, authentic Pilates Studios.

Local Studio, Local Teachers

The PSC program has been based at Holly’s Pilates Village for more than 10 years. Master Teacher Trainers Holly Holland and Teresa Willis work full-time at Holly’s Pilates Village. They are available for mentorship, advice and guidance.

Training Location Benefits

Holly’s Pilates Village is the largest studio in the region with 3,500 square feet of space and equipment. Many studios limit apprentice hours to off times because they have limited space and resources. At Holly’s Pilates Village, there is nearly always availability to schedule appointments and practice time throughout the day and evening in our busy studio. Any apprentice schedule can be accommodated.

The instructors at the village have a wide array of training backgrounds and specialties. The apprentice teacher will be able to observe different approaches as well as their own curriculum being applied daily on all kinds of bodies by master Pilates teachers.

Cost is all-inclusive – local experts will be here long after the initial coursework is complete

With PSC Teacher Training, there are no ongoing requirements. When you earn your PSC certificate, you need do nothing else to remain in good standing. This is in contrast to other programs offered locally and nationally that require licensing fees and tests every few years to remain certified. Your Master Teacher Trainers live and work here in Louisville - they are available throughout your training for ongoing support. They don’t travel for sporadic weekend trainings, then disappear. And all the training happens right here in Louisville, as well. No air travel or hotels required. You can become a Pilates teacher within a year and be ready to work at most area studios upon completion.

There are also no testing fees or hidden costs. Besides textbooks, there are no additional costs. As well, there are discounted Pilates classes at Holly’s Pilates Village as long as you are in training.

Large studio that focuses on Pilates but also provides CoreAlign, Yoga, Bone Strong Pilates, and more

There are also different modalities being practiced daily at Holly’s Pilates Village. Our focus is Pilates, but we also offer yoga, CoreAlign, Bone Strong Pilates for Osteoporosis, and assisted stretching. This is an advantage for an apprentice teacher because exposure to different movement technologies expands your base of knowledge. If you get a client who is a yogi, for example, you can better treat that client through consultations with your colleagues on site.

Holly’s Pilates Village provides a short path to this valuable and satisfying career.

Our yearly program includes 142 classroom-based hours with observation, self-integration, projects, and practice teaching rounding out the 450-hour program.

Meet our Instructors

Teresa Willis, NCPT

Teresa discovered Pilates 2001. She was in pain, overweight, with low energy and even lower confidence in herself and her well-being. Working with Kelli Coleman Altounian (Co-founder of PSC Teacher Training) she transformed herself from inside out within the first 6 months. And over 20 years later, we can say that transformation is permanent!

Her own enthusiasm for Pilates was infectious. Soon she realized that this was how she wanted to spend her days. She became a Pilates Instructor through Core Conditioning in Los Angeles in 2003. She worked at Pilates Studio City and developed a thriving clientele. “It’s such a gratifying way to spend your days. Pilates is fascinating. The endless versions and variations keep your work interesting and ever-changing. You see your clients at their best, then help them become better versions of themselves!”

Since moving to Louisville and working at Holly’s Pilates Village, a similar enthusiasm developed around training Pilates Instructors. It was a natural step to return to her original mentor, Kelli Coleman Altounian and Andromeda Stevens to become a Master Teacher Trainer with Pilates Sports Center in Los Angeles. She also became a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher through NPCP. Teresa stepped into her role as teacher, mentor and coach of new Pilates teachers with ease. Her experience, maturity and vast knowledge of the field provides the perfect recipe of support for her students. She creates a fun and focused learning environment, keeping things moving while unpacking the curriculum in manageable, easy-to-absorb bites.

Holly Holland, NCPT

Holly Holland took her first Pilates class in her early 50s and then didn’t try another one for 6 months. An experienced Yoga practitioner and teacher, she had assumed that there would be an easy transition between the two disciplines. Instead, her first Pilates teacher had corrected her form on many of the mat exercises. When Holly finally let go of her ego and returned to Pilates to experience it with “beginner’s eyes,” she fell in love with the precision of the movements and understood why her hypermobility and pelvic instability had let her excel in yoga but miss accessing the deeper core muscles that would help her age well and stay away from injuries. She was hooked, and soon began training to become a Pilates teacher.

After earning her comprehensive Pilates certification from Integrated Balance, Holly became a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher and later a Master Teacher Trainer from Pilates Sports Center. She ran a Pilates and yoga studio from her Louisville home for many years before buying Pilates Village in 2016. Many of her former students have since become Pilates teachers under her guidance

Holly loves learning and continually seeks knowledge and skills that she can share with students and teachers.Through her leadership, Holly’s Pilates Village has become well known in the community for high-quality instruction, particularly with people recovering from injury and illness. Holly has a keen eye for movement mechanics and trains teachers to understand “the body in front of them” rather than to simply memorize a series of exercises that may not be suitable for all students.
