Try These New Pilates Classes Starting in September
We're delighted to welcome A-Jah' Gibbs to our teaching team at Holly's Pilates Village!
A-Jah' completed her comprehensive Pilates certification under the direction of Master Teacher Trainer Teresa Willis. A-Jah' has a bachelor's degree in exercise science from the University of Louisville, where she fell in love with Pilates while taking a mat class.
"I wanted to become a Pilates teacher to help people with their overall health," particularly within the African-American community, A-Jah' says. "I don't think people in my community are very knowledgeable about Pilates and how helpful it can be."
"Also, as someone who has scoliosis, there isn't much that I can do as an adult to fix my spinal curvatures, but I can use Pilates to strengthen my weak muscles, which really helps my back."
A native of Louisville, A-Jah' enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. She also works as a pharmacy technician.
Our next Pilates Teacher Training Program starts October 5, with weekly instructional sessions offered on Saturdays from 2-6 p.m. The 9-month program also includes apprentice teaching with supervision from certified teachers, observations, self-integration hours, client assessments, and more. Candidates have the option to pursue either Mat-only certification or comprehensive certification, which consists of Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, and Barrels. Modular programming is also available. The entire program includes 142 classroom-based hours, with observation, self-integration and practice teaching rounding out the 450-hour program.
Holly's Pilates Village is the only studio in Louisville to offer a complete Pilates Teacher Training under the direct supervision of local teachers. There is no online learning, and you don't have to wait for outside instructors to trek into town for occasional weekend sessions. Our program is directed by Pilates Master Teacher Trainers Holly Holland and Teresa Willis, who are always available for coaching and guidance. Many studios limit apprentice hours to off times as they have limited space and resources. At Holly’s Pilates Village there is nearly always availability to schedule appointments and practice time throughout the day and evening in our busy studio. Additionally, Holly's Pilates Village employs a deep pool of teachers with a wide array of training backgrounds and specialties.
