Exciting Growth at Holly's Pilates Village

Studio Welcomes Bookkeeper Joanna Lickteig!

Welcome to our new bookkeeper Joanna Lickteig. She will be assisting Holly and Barry with the studio's accounting going forward so that they can concentrate on providing excellent instruction and client support. Joanna works with many small businesses in the St. Matthews area. Should you receive an email or phone call from Joanna, we wanted to let you know that you can trust her to work with you on our behalf.

We're delighted to announce that long-time client Bev Woock is the winner of our recent skeleton-naming contest. Bev will receive a free private Pilates session for submitting the nomination of Skully. Runner-up Caroline Irvine will receive a free group class for nominating Bonie, and the Honorable Mention award of a free pair of sticky socks goes to Caton Bredar for nominating Skelly

Thanks to everyone who participated and offered so many clever, creative and entertaining entries. We selected Skully because the name is simple, easy to remember and non-gender.

Welcome New Pilates Apprentice Teachers!

We're excited to welcome our largest Pilates Teacher training group to the studio. These seven women (not shown is Daniela Gaudio who lives in New Jersey) will spend the next nine months learning about the Pilates repertoire, human anatomy, and teaching pedagogy under the direction of Master Teacher Trainers Teresa Willis and Holly Holland. Additionally, they will complete a dense curriculum that includes 100 hours of practice teaching and 100 hours of observation and service while supervised by certified Pilates teachers.

Here is more information about this impressive group:

Marlene Men completed a bachelor's degree in economics at the University of Kentucky and works as an associate financial advisor. She started practicing Pilates to complement her routine of hot yoga and strength training and then became sold on its value during her recent pregnancy and postpartum period. She is excited about deepening her knowledge of Pilates through teacher training.

Kaylyn Tyree completed a bachelor's degree in psychology and sociology and a master's degree in business at the University of Louisville. She works in digital marketing. She worked in fitness studios while attending college and currently teaches part-time at a local Pilates studio. “At first I was not a fan (of Pilates) simply because of how difficult it was,” she says. “Now the physical challenge is one of my favorite aspects.”

Amanda Wilder studied biology at Indiana University-Southeast while working as a clinic manager in women's health. In 2013, she began taking woodworking classes, and two years later she switched careers so she could teach full-time with her mentor, Ted Harlan, and then open a wood shop in Schnitzelburg. Amanda discovered Pilates in 2017 while searching for a way to move and heal her body. She fell in love with the Pilates practice and wants to share that passion with others through teaching.

Jeanine Duperron is from Los Angeles but now lives in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. She was a competitive swimmer in her youth. She likes to say that she somehow "worked her way to Holly's studio, came in for a couple of classes and was hooked!" She likes to stay busy with work, school, and Pilates Pilates! Jeanine likes making friends through all of her experiences and is excited about the future, including becoming a certified Pilates teacher. She is married and has eight fur babies.

Sabrina Hannah is a wife and a mother to three boys. She has a bachelor's degree in chemistry and a PhD in food science and technology. She is currently a technical director at GE Appliances, a Haier Company. Sabrina discovered Holly's Pilates Village while searching for a way to treat her injuries. She is eager to learn more about the Pilates method and to apply what she learns to improve the well being of herself and others.

Please welcome this amazing group of Pilates Apprentice Teachers to our community!

Thank you for being part of the village!
